Glenochil Prison Visit
Mr McNeill's National 5 Modern Studies class went on a trip to Glenochill Prison on week beginning 23rd October.
The class were given a tour round the prison by Nicole, who is one of the employees there. She also answered a number of questions that the pupils had.
During the tour, they visited an area of the prision called 'Devon', which is for prisoners who are a danger to
themselves and others. The class got to look inside a cell and found that not only is the cell very small, but the
facilities within them are also basic. The class passed some prisoners while they were walking around and they had
no handcuffs on and were able to walk around freely.
Some of the class commented on how friendly the prison was and that it was nothing like what they had expected.
Overall, the class felt that it was a worthwhile trip that would help with their assignments.
