You can help to reduce deliberate fires

Playing with fire can put everyone at risk.   Things like setting fire to grass or rubbish.  Deliberate fires can spread quickly, threatening wildlife, property and people.

What's the problem?

Setting fire to grass or rubbish can take firefighters away from other incidents. Every minute counts.   What if someone you knew was trapped in a house fire while firefighters were putting a grass fire out?   Deliberate fires can delay the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reaching a real emergency. Deliberate fires take firefighters away from other incidents and could put lives at risk.

Facts

In 2019-20 the SFRS attended 11,649 deliberate outdoor fires. Many of these involve young people.

Think about it, talk about it

The SFRS is here to help keep you and everyone safe.   If you've thought about setting a fire, we hope that now you know the dangers you'll think again. If a friend is thinking about it, talk to them. Let's work together to prevent deliberate fires and keep everyone safe.

Be Fearless - Report it

Do you know something about deliberate fires where you live? Fearless is a service that allows you to pass on information about crime 100% anonymously.
