Young Sports Ambassadors 2017-18

Young Ambassadors is an exciting and energetic lottery funded programme to help develop young people as leaders in sport.

Each year, two pupils from each secondary school in Scotland are chosen as Young Ambassadors to promote sport, and motivate and inspire other young people to get involved in sport in their schools, clubs and local communities.   Chloe and Mya were chosen to be Whitburn Academy's Young Ambassadors for Session 2017-18.

The key role of a Young Ambassador is to support Active Schools locally and use the School Sports Award to influence six aspects of school sport -

  1. Extra curricular sport provision
  2. Links to community sport opportunities
  3. Opportunities for competition
  4. Celebration of pupil achievements in sport
  5. Leadership opportunities for young people
  6. PE in schools

The Young Ambassador Conference is integral to, and an exciting aspect of, the Young Ambassador programme. At the conference a team of athletes and sport development professionals support the Young Ambassadors to help them gain the skills, knowledge and understanding required to undertake their role.
