Debating Success
On 8th May, two of our S6 pupils, Emma Archondakis and Rebecca Millar, took part in the preliminary round of the ESU Public Speaking Competition at Mary Erskine School in Edinburgh.
They had to prepare 5 minute speeches using only a quote from a poem/book as their stimulus, and present these to the audience, before taking questions for a further 4-5 minutes. I am pleased to report that Rebecca saw off all the competition and won, securing a place in the national final! Moreover, Emma's speech gained excellent feedback and she only narrowly missed on progressing as well.
This is a great success for the girls who have played active roles in the debating club since the start of S2, and a brilliant end to their ongoing achievements in this field.
