Sports Leaders
The Whitburn Academy Sports Leaders have had a busy term delivering activities to primary 5 and 6 pupils in our 7 cluster primary schools.
The 22 Sports Leaders have received specialist training in Handball and Hockey from Scottish Handball and Scottish Hockey respectively and used their newly acquired skills to coach these sports in the schools prior to the respective festivals. At the festivals the sports leaders undertook a variety of leadership roles including Officiating and Score Keeping.
After the Primary 5 Handball festival a teacher from St John the Baptist Primary school commented that the festival was well organised and great fun as a direct result of their leadership roles. She also added that the "Atmosphere was excellent and all of the Whitburn Academy sports leaders were professional, supportive and polite - a credit to their school" .
