UNICEF Visitor
On 25th August, Mrs Whyte's S2 Social Studies class had a visit from Sam Whyte of UNICEF.
The class have been learning about human rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the visit from Sam provided a valuable insight into both topics. She was able to share information on her work with UNICEF and links with Government policy makers with a focus on asylum seekers and refugees. She has also visited The Jungle in Calais so was able to give first hand information on this too. Thanks to Sam for giving up some of her holiday time here in Scotland to share valuable information on these important issues. I am sure the pupils will have gained a deeper understanding of the topics covered in class.
