Whitburn Academy Fundraising

Throughout the year, the charity committee which consists of 30 pupils from S1, S5 and S6 has been working hard to organise events such as bake sales, coffee mornings and a bingo night to raise money for a range of charities.

Fundraising

This year we decided to support Jak's Den, Children in Need, UNICEF, Macmillan and West Lothian Foodbank with a grand total of £3394.80 raised between ourselves, the S4 and S5 Personal Development Classes, Non Uniform Days and Help Week activities.

To celebrate the money raised throughout the year, we invited a representative from each of these charities to come along to the school to collect their cheque as well as some teachers and pupils who helped to raise money by playing in the Christmas concert or organising events in their PD classes. We have also been fundraising to buy a defibrillator for the school and now have enough to go forward with our plans so hopefully you will see it around in the next few months! Being a part of the Whitburn Academy Charity Committee has been an exciting and very rewarding experience so we urge pupils from all year groups to come along on a Tuesday lunch time in Miss Richmond's room to get involved in some of the fun events we are planning for next year.
