Personal and Social Education (PSE) is an essential part of the curriculum for all age groups of Whitburn Academy.

It is that part of the Scottish Health and Well Being curriculum where the main focus is the individual school student and his/her personal development rather than a particular area of knowledge or subject discipline.  Important aspects of the Health and Well Being curriculum are covered in PSE including:

  • Drug and alcohol education
  • Health education
  • Mental health
  • Career education (see below)
  • Sex education
  • Bullying
  • Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP)
