Debating Success
On 3rd November, Whitburn Academy's Debating Club entered a juniors team into the 1st round of the ESU Competition
which was being held at The Royal High School in Edinburgh. Our team consisted of Elena and Anna, with support from Adam, Mia, Anna and Taibah. Three of our senior coaches also gave up their evening to attend the event, offering support and advice to the pupils after having helped over the last 2 weeks with all of the preparation. The tie was closely fought, on the topic of Animal Testing, with our girls arguing against two other schools to prove that it should be banned. Their speeches and debating techniques were excellent, and the team progressed on to the next round! It was a great night and a real team effort.
