STEM Workshops Sep 2024

The main aim of SmartSTEMs is to inspire the next generation about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through cost effective collaboration between industry and education.

SmartSTEMs invited along a wide range of companies and organisations to allow our pupils to take part in a number of fun and engaging workshops and activities including: making their own periscopes, making buildings from stickle bricks, building satellite dishes, wiring up network cables, building pneumatic circuits, testing out PIP consoles and learning about Artificial Intelligence .

Visiting companies and organisations included:

  • Thales Group
  • The Royal Navy
  • Sky
  • Nat West Group
  • Young Enterprise Scotland
  • Edinburgh Napier University
  • Curious Chip
  • Oil States Industries
  • Lost Shore Surf Resort
  • Nine Twenty Recruitment

Our pupils showed a real enthusiasm to improve their knowledge of STEM subjects and how they can make positive impacts in the real world.

A huge thank you to all our visitors for coming along across both days, to all our fantastic pupils for their excellent behaviour and effort shown and also to the staff both in the Academy and from the Primary schools, who assisted in any way.
