Sextortion advice from Police Scotland

Since 2022, there has been an increase in reporting of 'Financially Motivated Sexual Extortion'- often referred to as 'sextortion'.

Although victims of any age are potential targets, UK-wide data suggests that children aged 15-17 years and adults aged 18-30 are particularly at risk.

Sextortion is Blackmail.

Criminals target you through dating apps, social media, text or email and manipulate you into sharing sexual content that they later use to demand money or more images under threats of public exposure.

If you're a victim of sextortion, don't panic. Don't pay. Report it to the Police.
