S1 and S2 Social Studies
Through Social Studies we help young people to develop their understanding of the world and learn about other people and their values in different times places and circumstances.
S1-S2 Social Studies
In S1 and S2, pupils follow a general Social Studies course which contains topics from Geography, History and Modern Studies. During the course, the pupils will develop many skills including:
- communication and discussion skills
- developing reasoned and justified points of view
- presentation skills
- observational skills
- recording information
The S1 Social Studies course contains 6 topics, each taught in 6 week subject blocks. These are:
- Our Community
- Different Political Systems
- Weather and Climate
- Deserts
- Sustainable Developments
- Celts and Romans
The S2 Social Studies course contains 6 topics, each taught in 6 week subject blocks. These are:
- Global Rights
- The Atlantic Slave Trade
- Volcanoes
- Terrorism
- The Russian Revolution
- Map Skills
