A Celebration of Robert Burns
On Friday 23rd January, the pupils from 1B2 held their own celebration of the life and works of Robert Burns, with a recital of Scottish poems!
The pupils, led by their English teacher, Mrs Gilchrist, recited poems by Robert Burns or by other Scottish poets either as individuals or as groups to the rest of their class.
Poems recited by the pupils included: "'Fitba' in the Street", "Heron", "To a Louse", "Epistle to a Young Friend", "The Coming O the Wee Malkies", "Doric-Reggie-Spider Rap", "Crocodile", "A dug, a Dug", "To a Mouse", "Colour Prejudice", "The Norsemen Coming Ashore at Ness", The First Hoolit's Prayer", "Sarah: Fed Up", "A Red Red Rose" and "Rose".
After the pupils had finished reading out their poems, in keeping with the Scottish theme, they were treated to Irn Bru and shortbread!
A huge well done to the pupils involved!
