Reading Partnership
Our S4 Childcare class is making weekly visits to Polkemmet Nursery to read to and play with the children there.

Visitor from Actor / Playwright
During week beginning 24th February, we were very fortunate to have Mike Tibbets, a published playwright, visit our school.
Democracy Challenge
On 25th February, our S4 pupils took part in a Democracy Challenge.
Author Visit
S1 pupils and their families were treated to a fantastic afternoon in the company of Jonathan Meres, the author of the "World of Norm" series, on Thursday 20th February.

Whitburn Community Fridge
Whitburn Community Development Trust's Community Fridge is now up and running and food is available from their office premises on the Main Street. The community fridge will be redistributing food both fresh, ambient and hopefully soon frozen items that would otherwise be surplus food or going to landfill.
Turing's Testers
During week beginning 17th February, girls from Ms Watson's S2 Computing Science class have been taking part in the Turing Testers 2 Cyber Security challenge.

Living Memory visit
During week beginning 3rd February, Some of our senior pupils from our S6 Community Committee received training on how to conduct and record interviews from the Living Memory Association.
Therapets
The school are working with Bill and his pet Labrador, Veda, who is a therapet from the Canine Concern Scotland Trust.

Holocaust Memorial Day
On Monday 27 January, a group of senior pupils represented Whitburn Academy at West Lothian Council's Holocaust Memorial Service at Howden Park Centre.
YPI Launch event
The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative is an innovative way to financially support local, grassroots charities while engaging young people in a hands-on active citizenship experience.
