Be Herd

Mental Health: the elephant in the room. Why don't you Be Herd and share your feelings?

Health and Wellbeing Hub photograph

Your mental health is important.  That's why we have created a Health and Well Being hub in the library.  It's a space for you, your friends, family, teachers, support staff and the whole community.  A place to rest and relax, with resources to support your mental health.   Our Mental Health Ambassadors ('Elefriends') are also available should you need to talk to someone.

Whitburn Academy's Health and Wellbeing Group started their 'Be Herd' initiative in October 2018 with the purpose of the group being to raise awareness and remove stigma of mental health issues in Whitburn Academy and the local community.

Be Herd's mascot is 'Ellis the Elephant', who will hopefully be the only 'Elephant in the Room'

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDERS

Someone you can talk to

There is always someone you can talk to in school.  Mental Health First Aiders have had training in helping and supporting young people with mental health issues.

They all wear a lanyard with a picture of our Be Herd mascot, Ellis the Elephant and a rainbow.

You are not alone, speak to someone you trust.  We all deserve good mental health.
