Dementia Awareness Training

This is to ensure our pupils know how to interact with residents who suffer from this illness.  Training was provided by the Care Home Manager and was very interactive.  To understand how it feels to have Dementia and the emotional and physical difficulties this can cause, we tried thickened water (many Dementia sufferers have difficulties in swallowing liquids) and also tried to spoon feed each other yoghurt.  It really brought home to us all how much help Dementia sufferers often need with simple day to day tasks.
