Mitsubishi Challenge Winners!
On 5th June, Zoe, Emily and Chelsea from S3, took part in the finals of the Mitsubishi Pump it up competition.

Their task to design a device that could be powered by a heat pump and talk about the science of how it worked, benefits, green energy and the effects on society. All S2 pupils came up with ideas in groups as well as designing their device and preparing a group presentation in their Masterclasses. Each tutor group picked the winning group from their class and they went on to present their idea to a panel of judges in our school final. Zoe, Emily and Chelsea's group were the school winners and they were chosen to represent the Academy at the West Lothian finals.
Zoe, Emily and Chelsea presented to a packed and distinguished audience, which included: Elaine Cook (West Lothian Council's Depute Chief Executive), Daisuke Matsunaga (the Consulate General of Japan), Angela Constance (MSP for Almond Valley and Cabinet secretary for Education and life long learning) and the president of Mitsubishi Europe. The girls put in an amazing performance and despite stiff competition from the other 10 West Lothian schools, they were announced as the Champions!.
Well Done to Zoe, Emily and Chelsea on this fantastic achievement from everyone at Whitburn Academy.
