S1 Sound and Video
Our S1 Computing Science pupils have been working extremely hard since January, creating videos as part of the Sound and Video unit of their course.
Pupils in each of the 9 S1 classes have been split into groups of between 2 and 5 pupils and each group (approximately 45 groups) are allocated a story. The choices are: Room on the Broom, A Squash and a Squeeze, The Gruffalo's Child, The Gruffalo and Superworm.
Each group then prepares a script for their allocated story and allocate parts to each pupil. Once they have done this, each group goes into the Computing Base where Mr Hawthorn, the IT/AV Technician records each group reading their script on the Radio Station equipment.
The pupils then edit the sound file using Audacity, taking out any mistakes and adding in Sound effects. Once the sound file is complete, the pupils use Serif Movieplus to create their video. The pupils insert graphics into their video, with some also adding in some animations and then they line these up with the relevant part of the story. They will then add in their end credits, giving them a finished video.
