Awards Ceremony
On 6th September, Whitburn Academy held it's annual awards ceremony to celebrate and reward the many academic and extra curricular successes of our pupils throughout Session 2016/17.
Following a brief welcome and Headteacher's address from Miss Loudon, the audience were treated to the Wind Band playing 'Cabo Rico' by Chuck Elledge. This was followed by a Speaking Item from our 2016/17 Senior Debating Team: Emma Archondakis, Taylor Heggie, Rebecca Millar and Amy Oakes based on former US President, Lyndon B Johnson's quote, "Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose".
The Year Group prizes were then presented followed by the Guitar Group playing 'Ice 9' by Joe Satriani. Next the Special Prizes and Headteacher's awards were presented, then these were followed by a piano solo by Scott Gilchrist who performed 'I Giorni' by Ludovico Einaudi. The evening ended with a Vote of Thanks to everyone who was involved in the Awards Ceremony.
