Rights Respecting Schools Recognition of Commitment logoInitially we worked towards achieving a Recognition of Commitment which took us 6 months.   We are now working towards achieving Level 1 status, which can take up to 18 months to achieve. A steering group which is made up of various members of the school community, including the Headteacher, School Captain and Vice Captain, Chaplain, Educational Psychologist and Facility Management to name a few, meet regularly to decide what actions need to take place and how that should be taken forward. The Pupil Leadership Team also helps out with tasks that need to be done within school.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school's planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children's rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between pupils and adults, between adults and between pupils.
